• When we got home, we both had showers, Mom first. I began making dinner. I put some hamburger in a pan and started a meal of Hamburger Helper, adding my usual add-in to the Double Cheeseburger box, Mild salsa, to add a little zing to the mix. I got it to the simmer time when Mom hollered out that she was done. I let her know I started dinner and to stir the mix in about five minutes. I then hopped in my shower, putting on similar clothes when I got out. Mom wore her usual extra-long sleep shirt and her thick terrycloth robe.
• Mom had thrown some veggies in the microwave and completed our meal with thick slices of French bread and butter. We each had milk with our meals. The conversation was light. We discussed the day in the park and my plans for the following week while she was working. I figured on time with some friends around the area who hadn't gone to college with me. Adding some downtime beating on my PC and Xbox games, plus working on my tan. She smiled and nodded.
• Like the night before, we cuddled up on the couch and watched more TV, pre-primetime game shows, and then a movie from Netflix. As we cuddled, I began to notice Mom more, especially how warm and comforting she was, tucked in under my arm. As we watched the movie, I would glance over when she would laugh at the scene playing and smile at the sparkle in her eyes. At one point, I almost leaned down to kiss her but wasn't sure and didn't want to make it weird. Mom went to bed after the movie, and I stayed up to watch Sportscenter and followed her example, shuffling off to bed too.
